Miami GP

• Miami International Autodrome will become the 11th track where a F1 GP will be celebrated in USA ever (the second in Florida after Sebring 1959), more than any other country in F1 ever. This will be the first season with two GPs raced in US since 1984 (Detroit & Dallas).
• In the only F1 GP celebrated in Florida (Sebring 1959), Bruce McLaren secured the first of his four F1 victories. In that race, Jack Brabham claimed F1 Champions for the first time driving Cooper, the first British team to record a F1 driver title.
• Different drivers have won the last four GP in USA, all of them at Las Américas (Austin, Texas): Lewis Hamilton in 2017, Kimi Raikkonen in 2018, Valtteri Bottas in 2019 & Max Verstappen in 2021, all of them starting from the pole position, except Kimi Raikkonen (2nd).

• Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton will appear at Miami for the first time as all drivers. The Brit will race in his 37th different circuit being the driver to have won (31 of 36) & have taken pole position (32 of 36) in the most different circuits in F1 ever.
• Mercedes AMG F1 have won & taken the pole position both with a same driver in the last six maiden circuits in F1: Lewis Hamilton (Sochi in 2014, Mugello in 2020, Portimao in 2020, Losail in 2021 & Saudi Arabia in 2021) & Nico Rosberg in Bakou 2016.
• HAAS are the only US team in the current grid. They have set only two fastest laps in 126 GPs (both recorded by Kevin Magnussen in Singapore); collecting just one point in five races in their country (Romain Grosjean 10th in 2016). In 2022, only Kevin Magnussen (15 points) has earned 12 points more than all the team in the previous two seasons combined (3).
• Thanks Charles Leclerc’s wins in Australia & Bahrein in 2022 both, Ferrari are one win away from equalling the amount of victories in their three previous seasons combined (three, all of them in 2019).
• Red Bull come to this contest after taking their first one-two in a GP (Max Verstappen 1st & Sergio Pérez 2nd) since Malaysia 2016 when Max Verstappen was placed 2nd & Daniel Ricciardo 1st. They have recorded back-to-back one-two only one time in F1 ever (UK – Germany 2009).
• The four Charles Leclerc’s wins in F1 arrived from pole position. The Monegasque has taken 11 pole positions winning 36% of these races, the lowest Ferrari’s driver percentage becoming his pole positions in wins, with at least two wins.
• Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has won 10 races starting from 14 pole positions in his F1 career (71,4%), the best percentage for a driver ever, with +2 wins.
• While Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was the last winner in USA (Austin 2021), Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has reached just one podium in eight GPs raced in North América (US, Canada & Mexico): 3rd in Canada 2019.
• Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc recorded a Grand Slam in Australia while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in Emilia-Romagna. Two back-to-back Grand Slams have been got them by two different drivers for the first time in F1 ever.
• Red Bull’s Sergio Pérez has reached back-to-back Top2 (2nd in Australia & Emilia Romagna both) for the first time being his best season’s starting after four GPs raced (54 points) in the 12 years in his F1 career. He continues looking for surpassing Pedro Rodríguez as the Mexican driver to have recorded the most victories in F1 ever (both two);
• Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz has retired in the last two GPs after failing to do it in his previous 24 races for Ferrari. Last time the Spanish driver recorded at least three abandonments in a row was in his maiden season in 2015 (four between Austria & Belgium that campaign).
• Alpine’s Fernando Alonso will race the Miami GP for the first time ever, as all the drivers. The Asturian driver has earned in all & each one of the 35 GPs & circuits where he has appeared in his F1 career, except in Saudi Arabian GP (two races). The Asturian is 18 points (1st or 2nd place) away from earning 2000 points to be the third driver to reach this milestone after Lewis Hamilton & Sebastian Vettel.
• Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton is the driver with the most F1 wins ever in America (18: seven in Canada, six in USA, three in Brazil and two in Mexico). The Brit could surpass Michael Schumacher (15, 1992-2006) as the F1 driver ever to have recorded most consecutive seasons winning a race (it would 16 in a row since 2007).
• Only Juan Manuel Fangio enjoyed a better starting collecting (first seven GPs) than George Russell between the Mercedes’ drivers ever (five: 9th in Sakhir 2020, 4th in Bahrein 2022, 5th in Saudí Arabian 2022, 3rd in Australia 2022 & 4th in Emilia Romagna 2022).
• McLaren’s Lando Norris is the only driver to have secured a better position in a GP than his previous race this season (15th in Bahrein, 7th in Saudí Arabia, 5th in Australia & 3rd in Emilia Romagna). The Brit has reached never back-to-back podiums in 64 GPs.
• Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas is looking for equalling Rubens Barrichello as the non-World Champions to have reached the most podiums in F1 ever (68). The Finnish has earned three points more in his first four races this year (24) than all Alfa Romeo in their previous two seasons combined (21).
• (Daily, Saturday). On this day 55 years ago in a Monaco GP, Denny Hulme won for the first time in F1, the first of his two wins in 1967 (the other was Germany) when he claimed the first & only F1 Champions driver from New Zealand.
